Cultural Identity

Do you come from a culture that's different from the "mainstream" one? Are you an immigrant or have grown up in an immigrant family? Have you always felt a sense of being "different" than others because of who you are?

Identity is a sense of "who am I" and belonging. Sometimes, this fundamental sense of self can be lost when we have conflicting identities or have transitioned to a completely new and foreign society.

Alienation and systematic oppression towards cultural or racial minorities can also lead to feelings of confusion and powerlessness; a lot of people choose to turn their anger toward themselves even when the anger should have gone somewhere else.

Psychotherapy will help you explore and embrace your unique identity and heal scars from the past. It can help you:

  • Discuss your feelings in a safe environment and get support

  • Integrate and embrace new or conflicting identities

  • Find your lost voice and become your true self

  • Explore and build a sense of belonging
